Taking on America's best Junior drivers

"As a rookie making my debut, you never know what to expect, but you always have this quiet confidence inside your head that drives you to win.

I had no idea of the level of talent in the US junior development levels. I can honestly say that I was surprised and impressed at the level of competitiveness and talent of the drivers over here.
My first taste of racing against America’s drivers was in August 2013, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, CA, racing in the USF2000 Mazda Road to Indy series for JDC Motorsport.

Bathurst, Australia

That track was crazy, I like to say it’s a mix between Phillip Island’s fast, wide and flowing corners but then there is the ‘corkscrew’, which is basically Bathurst’s Skyline & Dipper, but steeper and it goes for longer.

Laguna Seca, USA

The first time I drove it, it was daunting as you literally cannot see the bottom.
It’s over a two story drop as you come down the hill and your heart is in your mouth coming down the steep drop off.
I raced for JDC Motorsports for the remanding 2 race weekends at Laguna Seca and at the Houston Grind Prix street course in Texas, which was my first taste of a legitimate street circuit, and it was pretty crazy to do that in the super light Formula 2000 car with 180hp, slick tires and downforce, looking at and driving within an inch of those walls waiting to eat you alive if you make one small mistake!
I raced the Winter Series for JDC Motorsports again in USF2000 in 2014, before unfortunately ending up on the sidelines for the remainder of the main summer championship.
in 2015, I am currently competing in the USF1600 series for Exclusive Autosport, a Canadian based team who are North America’s distributor for the Australian manufactured Spectrum chassis.
Let me tell you it’s a pretty unreal feeling being an Aussie representing Australia overseas, driving an Australian built & manufactured chassis!
So far this year I’ve had a dream start to the season, having won 5 from 9 races with 8 podiums in a row and 4 wins in a row. I am really gelling with the car and team, even in the competitive racing which is Formula 1600 - I can’t say I’ve been in a race where I’ve won by any more than 1 second.
Currently I am leading the championship  against some pretty solid competition which I am very blessed to have the opportunity to be able to do so"
