Rising Australian Sports Car driver Scott Andrews has confirmed his participation in the "Road to Le Mans" races as a support for the forthcoming Le Mans 24 Hour. The Road To Le Mans races form round two of the Michelin Le Mans Cup which will see a combination of GT3 and LMP3 cars on the 13.6km Circuit des 24 Heures du Mans. The first race of one hour duration will be held on Thursday the 15th June at 5:30 PM, French time, whilst the second race will be held just prior to the start of the 24 Hour race on Saturday the 17th and in front of an estimated 250,000 spectators.
This will be Scott’s first visit to Le Mans and comes on the back of his outstanding performance at the first round of the Michelin Le Mans Cup at Monza where he was on the pace and topped free practice 2.
Scott will be driving with his third LMP 3 Team in successful French racers Graff Racing, sharing the car with Italian/Australian John Corbett in a Ligier JS P3 powered by a Nissan V8 engine. Of course the team will run exclusively on specialised Michelin racing tyres. Graff Racing have competed in the Le Mans 24 Hour 11 times in their 29 year history.
Scott said, “This is like a childhood dream to be able to race at Le Mans. “It has been one of my ambitions to race there, next year I’d like to think I can earn a drive in the 24 Hour Race.” He went on to say, “I need to send out a big thank you to John Corbett and also James Winslow who both have the confidence that I’ll do a great job for them. “James was instrumental in organising the drive for me.” The Le Mans 24 Hour is one of the famed Triple Crown, the unofficial pinnacle events for motor racing which also includes the Indianapolis 500 and Monaco F1 Grand Prix. Held for the first time in 1923 it is the World’s oldest Sports Car Race and has been immortalised via legendary racers, races and films.
This will be the second running of the Road To Le Mans races and is an opportunity for both up-and-coming drivers who want to progress their careers and gentleman racers who want to experience one of the best circuits and events in the world.
